- The problem statements seek to remove technical on-ground application challenges and bring in focused interventions to redesign smart meter operational processes
- Launched by Hon'ble Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy Shri R. K. Singh, the leading innovation challenge & hackathon seeks to incubate innovative ideas for large-scale commercialisation
- IntelliSmart is already working with prior winners to develop critical products and solutions to set operational benchmark for the industry with an eye to support successful rollout of 250 mn smart meters in the country
New Delhi, In keeping with its credo of pioneering digitalisation in the power sector, IntelliSmart Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., India's leading smart metering and digital solutions company, kickstarts INSTINCT 3.0. The flagship initiative of the company, which already received tremendous response in the last two years and generated ground-breaking ideas, is taking the possibility of collaboration and partnership for commercialisation to the next level that will collectively benefit the smart metering industry and the power sector in general.
Since its inception in 2021, INSTINCT has found widespread uptake among stakeholders. More than 900 colleges, 2368 students, 81 startups, 184 professionals and 145 incubation centres have registered and engaged with the program.
Currently, IntelliSmart is working with some of the winners of the past editions to jointly incubate ideas into working solutions with on-ground application capability. One such notable idea being worked upon is the Smart NIC system, developed by Boltron, a startup working at the cutting-edge of the smart metering and power distribution. Considering the current limitations of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), the solution, with its ability to optimise end-to-end communication across radio frequency and cellular and ensure range, throughput and payload while maintaining security, can emerge as a veritable game changer for AMI solutions providers and revolutionise the smart meter implementation process.
The launch of INSTINCT 3.0 through a curtain raiser by Hon'ble Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy Shri R K Singh at the National Dialogue on 'Smart-Metered India for a Digitalised & People-centric Power Sector' is a moment of pride for the entire smart metering and power distribution sector and a testament to the growing significance of the innovation challenge. https://twitter.com/MinOfPower/status/1637766781757689858?s=20
Mr. Anil Rawal, MD & CEO, IntelliSmart said, "It is our efforts to nurture innovation and give wings to potentially transformative ideas that have made INSTINCT a serious program, widely regarded by the innovation community of the country as the flagship hackathon. We take pride in our efforts that are conceived to collectively benefit all relevant and associated stakeholders and, most importantly, the people of India. With INSTINCT, our goal remains simple - discovering and developing ground-breaking ideas into potent game-changing products and solutions that will play a pivotal role in the country's vision towards digitalisation of the power sector."
INSTINCT 3.0 will focus on specific problem statements that have risen from the real-life on-ground operational application of smart meter projects. These include developing a reliable design solution that will enhance the ability of smart electricity meters to withstand electricity surges up to 10 KV in an operating environment; create a prototype of an energy exchange platform at a peer-to-peer level based on smart meter-enabled aggregated data and blockchain settlement that will allow consumers to sell energy; demonstrate a solution in which the Electricity Smart Meter host/gateway for connecting and managing home appliances, and residential EV chargers, and has the footprint to connect other utility meters. A prize money of Rs 10 lakhs has been allotted for the winning ideas.
IntelliSmart, as a digital solutions provider, aims to create a difference in the power distribution sector with digital interventions while shouldering the responsibility of mass-scale rollout of smart meters under RDSS. With smart meter infrastructure, consumer data management and AI/ML-based analysis, the company seeks to create considerable value for state utilities by enabling them to develop additional revenue sources. In the long run, smart metering will help create a robust, resilient, flexible smart grids that can integrate renewable energy seamlessly to meet India's growing power demand.
