Imphal: The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF), women wing on Saturday held a massive protest rally at the wall of remembrance site near peace ground where dummy coffins of the fallen tribals have been kept by women folks.
The protest programme was organised against the parading two Kuki women naked and later gangraped.
Main speakers at the dharna site comprises religious leaders , social leaders and leaders from the women organisation.
Ngaineikim Chairman of the Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights stated that she is against shedding of crocodile tears by the some women organisation leader.
“If they really love tribals they ( women folks or leader ) should not arrest many of their ladies and teenage girls and handed over to the men to he rape and then killed.So many other girls who are their children have been rape and then killed and their bodies could not be trace till date,”.
She said, “The chief minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh shedding pretended tears because he is the one who planned all this attrocious act against them and now they cannot accept his claim of sympathy and concern for victims his nefarious plan,”.
Speaking to media persons, Mary Jone convenor of the ITLF women wing demanded befitting punishment to the perpetrators and point out that such is their fate and subjection under the majorittarian domination and separate administration is a must for them.
“We want separate administration for Kuki’s. We don’t want to live under this government. The atrocities against women has been done under this government and this government remain mute spectator. So, we want separate administration for Kuki people,” Mary Jone told media persons.
On the other hand, fresh incidents of violence was reported in Manipur’s Imphal on Saturday after hundreds of women protesters blocked roads and burnt tyres in the Ghari area.
The situation turned tense at around 9 am after the women protesters came out in huge numbers and blocked the roads on both while sloganeering against the government.
Meanwhile, Manipur police, Army and rapid action battalion had to rush in to bring the situation under control. The security personnel doused the fire and quelled the protesters by allegedly firing tear gas shells, according to reports.
